"1940" is a story that really happened.
Short film that bridges generations through memory and imagination. When young Zosia visits her 93-year-old great-grandmother, she asks to hear again the story of her great-grandfather’s childhood during the war. As Agnieszka recalls the past, we are transported into a haunting alternate reality of 1940 — where a young boy, caught smuggling ammunition in occupied Poland, comes face to face with danger. The line between memory, fear, and survival blurs in this quiet meditation on how history lives on in the stories we tell.
